When PMDG released the 737-700 last week, the headline feature was the High Detail Update, a comprehensive visual overhaul that the developer had been working on since the 737-800 first launched back in December. At the time, PMDG was clear that the remaining NG variants would receive the same treatment as free updates in the coming days. That process has now started, with the 737-600 being the first to get it.
The 737-600 High Detail Update brings the same depth of change that 737-700 owners got at launch: fine texture improvements, geometry refinements throughout the exterior model, tens of thousands of hand-placed rivets, screws and fasteners, improved skin mapping, enhanced modeling of equipment hatches and exterior controls, updated ground equipment models, reworked doorways, cargo holds, cabin interiors, cockpit, landing gear bays, engines and lighting.
PMDG describes the scope of work as going even further than originally planned, with details tucked into areas like ground power connectors, water and lav service points, and the gear bays. It’s a significant visual step up from what launched.
Because of how deep the changes go, PMDG has had to update all liveries available through the Operations Center for the 737-600. Third-party liveries created before this update may also need to be revised by their authors, so if you have any installed, check before loading up.
Alongside the visual update, both the 737-600 and 737-700 have received a round of fixes and improvements, including additional WASM stability work, BeyondATC datalink capability, and efficiency improvements to the tablet mapping experience. The full changelog is available via the PMDG Operations Center.
The 737-700 has also been submitted to the Microsoft Marketplace and should appear there shortly. The 737-600 update is available now through the PMDG Operations Center, with Marketplace availability expected once it clears the intake process.
PMDG has confirmed that the 737-900 and 737-800 are next in line for their High Detail Updates, in that order.
We covered the full scope of the High Detail Update when it launched with the 737-700 release, and the 737-600’s original MSFS 2024 release earlier this year if you want the full picture on where the fleet started.
