If you’ve been sitting on the fence about picking up Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, this is probably the moment to jump. All four editions of the sim are currently on sale on Steam, and based on the game’s pricing history since its November 2024 launch, this appears to be the first time the base game has been discounted on the platform.
The sale runs until March 26, so there are only a few days left to take advantage of it. Here’s what each edition is going for right now:
- Standard Edition: $55.99 / €63.99 (down from $69.99 / €79.99, 20% off)
- Deluxe Edition: $79.99 / €87.99 (down from $99.99 / €109.99, 20% off)
- Premium Deluxe Edition: $97.49 / €104.99 (down from $129.99 / €139.99, 25% off)
- Aviator Edition: $149.99 / €164.99 (down from $199.99 / €219.99, 25% off)
Which edition is right for you?
If you’re new to the sim, the differences between editions can feel a bit confusing, so here’s a quick breakdown.
The Standard Edition comes with 70 aircraft and 150 upgraded airports, and it’s also the tier available through Xbox Game Pass, so if you’re already a subscriber, you may not need to buy it at all. That said, owning it outright means no subscription dependency, which is worth something.
The Deluxe Edition adds 10 additional aircraft and five extra airports on top of the Standard. The additional aircraft lean toward general aviation, making this a reasonable step up for GA enthusiasts who want a bit more variety without going all the way to Premium Deluxe.
The Premium Deluxe Edition adds another 15 aircraft, bringing the total to 95, along with additional upgraded airports. Those 15 aircraft include some notable additions like the Boeing Dreamlifter, the Saab 340, and the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III.
The Aviator Edition includes everything from the Premium Deluxe Edition plus the entire fleet of 30 Microsoft-published Marketplace aircraft developed for Microsoft Flight Simulator between 2021 and 2024. These are the Local Legends and Famous Flyers series aircraft, among others. If you already own those individually from MSFS 2020, the Aviator Edition offers less additional value. If you don’t, it’s a reasonable way to get them all in one go.
