Sofly has released AeroTone, its new global audio enhancement package for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The add-on is now available through the Sofly store and third-party vendors including Orbx and Contrail.
AeroTone is positioned as a simulator-wide audio expansion that applies across an entire aircraft fleet rather than individual add-ons. According to Sofly, the product affects all aircraft, including default content and supported third-party aircraft, both current and future.
A simulator-wide audio layer
Sofly states that AeroTone introduces a new sound environment built from hundreds of professionally produced recordings. These sounds cover multiple aspects of flight, including engines, wind, avionics, airframe movement, environmental effects, and surface interactions. The aim, according to the developer, is to provide a more detailed and layered soundscape during all phases of flight.
Both cockpit and cabin audio are addressed. In the cockpit, AeroTone introduces low-level ambient sounds intended to reflect a human presence, such as occasional pilot noises during quieter phases. In the cabin, Sofly highlights elements such as passenger voices, galley activity, seat mechanisms, call bells, and other background sounds that are typically absent from stock aircraft audio.

ATC chatter and regional variation
AeroTone also includes a large library of pre-recorded ATC chatter. Sofly confirms that more than 100 hours of recordings are included, with audio that adapts based on the user’s geographical location and flight phase. Coverage spans regions such as the UK, United States, Europe, Asia, and oceanic areas, with dedicated long-haul radio chatter for transatlantic and transpacific flights.
This ATC audio is separate from the simulator’s live ATC system and is intended to provide ambient radio traffic rather than functional air traffic control.
Customisation and profiles
The add-on features a custom in-sim control panel that allows users to adjust volume levels, toggle individual sound elements, or disable entire sound categories while flying. No external configuration tools are required.
Sofly includes more than 120 official audio profiles for popular aircraft, providing preset balance configurations tailored to specific models. Users can also create their own profiles for any aircraft and share them with others, or download profiles created by the community.
AeroTone is compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Sofly states that it works with all aircraft types supported by the simulator, including fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, gliders, and third-party add-ons.
Pricing and launch offer
To mark the release, Sofly is offering a time-limited launch price $26.99, available from December 17, 2025, through January 17, 2026.
From January 18, 2026, AeroTone will move to its regular pricing of $34.99.
AeroTone is available now from Sofly, Contrail, and Simmarket.
