IndiaFoxtEcho has released the Eurofighter EF-2000 Typhoon for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, marking another major addition to a catalogue that has steadily focused on modern military aircraft for the platform.
Over the past few years, IndiaFoxtEcho has become a familiar name to MSFS users interested in jets that sit outside the usual airliner and general aviation space. The developer has delivered a very interesting mix of releases centred on military aviation, with aircraft such as the F-35 Lightning II, F-14 Tomcat, MB-339, and more.
The EF-2000 Typhoon continues that trajectory. The Typhoon is a European multinational, twin-engine, supersonic multirole fighter, known for its agility and delta canard layout. IndiaFoxtEcho states that the aircraft’s relaxed stability and digital fly-by-wire control system have been key reference points when translating the Typhoon into the simulator.
Aerodynamically, the Typhoon relies on coordinated use of canards and flaperons for pitch control, with roll achieved mainly through differential flaperon input. Automatically controlled leading-edge slats are present, while yaw is handled by a single large rudder. A hydraulically operated air brake sits behind the cockpit and deploys vertically to increase drag when required. The real aircraft makes extensive use of composite materials, combined with aluminium lithium and titanium, and has an estimated service life of 6,000 flying hours.
For Microsoft Flight Simulator, IndiaFoxtEcho highlights high-detail external and cockpit models, a full set of liveries covering every squadron that operates the EF-2000, detailed avionics and systems simulation, a carefully tuned flight model, and a custom sound package.
The aircraft is now available via SimMarket and Orbx. Pricing is set at US$35, plus tax. IndiaFoxtEcho has also confirmed that the EF-2000 Typhoon has been cleared for release on the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace for PC on both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, pending Microsoft’s approval. Xbox testing is currently underway and is expected to conclude shortly.
IndiaFoxtEcho has already identifier some early issues and the team is working on update 1.0.1, planned for release within the next couple of weeks. Two known issues have been highlighted for early users. Some may notice flickering on the CMHDD when using map mode, which the developer links to TAA and recommends addressing by switching to a different anti-aliasing setting. In MSFS 2020, some systems may experience stutters when the radar is active, with suggested workarounds including disabling the radar module or removing frame rate limiters.
