Cabby, the virtual cabin crew system for Microsoft Flight Simulator, has received a series of major updates that bring several new features aimed at deepening cabin simulation and personalisation options for its users. The developer shared a new showcase video and detailed blog post outlining the changes.
Cabby began as a tool for generating cabin announcements using flight data and, optionally, the user’s voice through AI voice-cloning. It has since expanded into a more comprehensive cabin-immersion platform. According to the developer, the latest update focuses on three areas: richer passenger simulation, more flexible AI-driven flight scenarios, and an upgraded audio experience.
Passenger behaviour and post-flight scoring
The update refines Cabby’s passenger simulation system. Each flight now includes a virtual passenger roster with individual characteristics such as nationality, age, travel purpose, and flying anxiety levels. Cabby adjusts passenger reactions based on in-flight events like turbulence, steep climbs or descents, and firm landings. A passenger satisfaction score is tracked throughout the flight, with a detailed summary available after landing.
Subscribers gain access to an AI-generated text report that reviews piloting performance and provides personalised remarks. A flight history section stores previous flights with corresponding scores and landing performance metrics.
Custom AI scenarios
A key addition is also the AI scenario system. Users can input a custom flight context, and Cabby adapts announcements accordingly. Examples shown include VIP charters, sports team flights, and personal notes such as celebrating a passenger’s birthday. Airline-style terminology, loyalty program language, and service announcements adjust to match the scenario. Meal services and onboard offerings can also be defined through text prompts.
Spatial audio and sound options
Cabby now also supports 3D spatial audio and includes a built-in equaliser. The developer states that announcements can be positioned in the cabin space for users with stereo or multi-speaker setups. Pre-set and manual equaliser controls are available to adjust announcement tone and clarity.
Boarding screen and ambient cabin sound
A boarding screen can now also be shown on a secondary display or device on the same network. It provides real-time boarding information and ambient boarding sounds that vary based on passenger load.
