Seafront Simulations is back with a new project, and it looks like one of the most ambitious yet for the team. The developer has just released the trailer for Vessels: AU New South Wales, a maritime scenery expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 that covers more than 2,000 kilometers of Australia’s coastline.
The studio says this project has been in development for quite a while, but it’s paying off. Built entirely for MSFS 2024, Vessels: AU New South Wales takes advantage of the new simulator’s improved water physics and object handling to deliver what looks like the most dynamic coastal experience Seafront has produced to date.
From the busy waters of Sydney Harbour to the calmer marinas and bays around Eden, Port Kembla, and Tweed Heads, this package aims to populate New South Wales’ coastline with activity and authenticity.
According to Seafront, the scenery features more than 15,000 handcrafted static boats distributed across harbours, bays, and marinas, along with over 1,000 animated vessels that move independently: ferries, freighters, sailboats, and patrol craft.
The coastline is also home to a variety of historic and naval ships, from replicas of the HMB Endeavour and Duyfken to active-duty vessels such as Canberra-class landing helicopter docks, Daring-class destroyers, and Anzac-class frigates.
The developer points out that this new release is exclusive to the 2024 version because of water level and physics limitations in MSFS 2020. That exclusivity might frustrate a few long-time users, but it also reflects how the technical foundation of the new sim allows developers like Seafront to work with a more realistic maritime environment.
Coming soon for PC and Xbox
Seafront says Vessels: AU New South Wales is now complete and ready for release “very soon” on PC and Xbox, via the in-sim Marketplace. The trailer gives a solid preview of what’s to come: a bustling, varied maritime world that adds genuine presence to Australia’s eastern seaboard.
