MicroProse’s Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress is almost here. Following the announcement last week that the aircraft will release on October 9, 2025 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, new details have now emerged through a product page on Just Flight, where the aircraft will be available for purchase.
Early Access launch pricing
The B-17G will be offered in Early Access at a discounted price of $32.99. This is 17% off the regular price of $39.99, which will apply once the version 1.0 release arrives. The lower entry point is valid only during the Early Access phase, giving those who buy early a small price break before the package is finalized.
What’s included at launch
At launch, the Early Access version will feature:
- Initial flight model tailored for MSFS 2024
- Hand-crafted 3D model with 4K PBR textures
- Fully modelled cockpit, panels, and instruments
- Wwise engine and cockpit sounds recorded from the real aircraft (work in progress)
- Five authentic liveries
- Simple crew customization via an in-sim clipboard prototype
MicroProse has collaborated with historians and warbird foundations to ensure authenticity, aiming to faithfully recreate the most widely produced variant of the Flying Fortress.

Roadmap to v1.0
Development won’t stop at release. MicroProse has published a roadmap outlining the path to the full-featured version:
- Updates 1–3: Bug fixes, texture improvements, and incremental system updates (every ~2 weeks).
- Final release (v1.0): Crew configuration system, maintenance mode, optional modern avionics, additional liveries, and a paint kit.
- Continuous improvements: Ongoing enhancements, system tuning, and new features based on community feedback.
The full version is also expected to include the high-fidelity flight model, complete electrical system with circuit breakers, realistic wear effects, and multiplayer-visible crew animations.
Available October 9
The B-17G Flying Fortress will release first for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, with an MSFS 2020 version planned for later. Early Access will allow simmers to experience the aircraft ahead of its final state, while also contributing feedback to shape its development.
With this, MicroProse officially kicks off its Heritage Valor Collection, an initiative to preserve historically significant aircraft in digital form. The B-17G is the opening act, but more WWII icons are already confirmed to be on the drawing board.
