Checklists are a constant in aviation. Whether you’re a student pilot in a Cessna 172 or flying long-haul in a Boeing 777, every phase of flight is tied to one. In flight simulation, though, they’ve often felt like a box-ticking exercise, handy to keep things in order, but rarely something you look forward to.
SayIntentions.AI thinks it can change that. Following the same philosophy that drives its AI-powered ATC system, the team has now introduced Checklist V2: a fully voice-driven, AI-assisted system that reads, responds, and even manipulates your aircraft in real time.
Most checklist utilities in the sim world have relied on pre-recorded voices or scripted responses. You give the right cue, the co-pilot answers, and that’s about it. Functional and often fun, but hardly flexible.
Checklist V2 flips that model on its head. Everything is AI-generated on the fly. The developer says that co-pilot sounds natural, responds to whatever phrase you throw at them, and, crucially, can actually interact with the aircraft. Tell them to “set the altimeter to 29.92,” and they’ll do it. Ask to “run the before start checklist,” and you’ll get a dynamic callout sequence where you can confirm items, skip ahead, or sit back while the co-pilot flips the switches for you.
Three ways to run your flows
The system recognizes that not all pilots handle checklists the same way. With V2, you can mix and match between:
- Flow checklists – quick reads with no response required.
- Challenge–response – you call it, they read it, you confirm.
- Full automation – your co-pilot runs the entire procedure, flipping switches through simulator variables.
And because each item can be tagged individually, you can build a hybrid checklist that fits your exact routine.
Checklist V2 also comes with a Checklist Tuner. That’s where things get interesting. The Tuner lets you:
- Create and edit custom checklists.
- Import a PDF and watch AI parse it into a structured, editable checklist
- Export back to PDF for printing or tablet use.
- Share and clone checklists via a community catalog.
As you would expect, the checklists tie directly into SayIntentions’ ATC ecosystem. That means placeholders like frequencies, squawk codes, or altimeter settings can be read directly from your last ATC interaction.
The feature also works across Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, with no need for aircraft-specific expansion packs. As long as the relevant variables are exposed, automation is possible.
Availability and access
Checklist V2 is currently in alpha, available only to Partner-tier members, a $50 one-time contribution that SayIntentions says goes straight into its R&D budget. For everyone else, the system will move through beta before reaching all subscribers in a wider release.
The company stresses that the core of its engineering effort remains on traffic injection and ATC, but checklist development has reached a stage where it’s ready for hands-on feedback from early adopters.
