Orbx has released a second trailer for Jurassic World: Archipelago, its officially licensed expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Beyond the expected visuals of aircraft and landscapes, this new preview also shows the integration of Jurassic World environments and characters into the simulator.
The trailer introduces several new elements that expand the cinematic feel of the add-on. Gallimimus herds are shown running freely across open fields, players get a glimpse inside the iconic Control Center, and the massive Aviary on Isla Nublar makes its debut.
When Orbx announced the project earlier this month, the news quickly spread beyond the usual MSFS community outlets. Film and gaming publications picked it up too, showing that the expansion has crossover potential that few other flight simulator add-ons have ever managed.
From a simulator perspective, the expansion still checks plenty of boxes: Isla Nublar and the Muertes Archipelago islands, custom Juan Santamaría International Airport (MROC) with a Jurassic-themed VIP terminal, Herradura Bay Marina, and a mix of airstrips and helipads.
But it’s the animated wildlife—Tyrannosaurus rex, Brachiosaurus, Velociraptor, and now Gallimimus—that makes this project especially cool. Microsoft Flight Simulator has long aimed for authenticity, yet here we’re seeing an intentional step into fiction, officially licensed and presented with the same technical care as real-world scenery.
The expansion remains on track for release in late August or early September 2025, launching first on PC via OrbxDirect and the in-game Marketplace, followed by Xbox. Orbx also plans to bring the package to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and X-Plane 12 later on.
