Bush pilots in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, this one is for you. Orbx and indie developer Ken Hall are back in Papua New Guinea with PNG Highland Bush Strips Pack 4, adding seven handcrafted airstrips to one of the most rugged and unforgiving environments in aviation.
Papua New Guinea is legendary in bush flying circles for its mix of beauty and danger. With Packs 1–3 already covering dozens of airstrips, Pack 4 feels like a natural extension for pilots hungry for more highland challenges.
As the name implies, this is the fourth entry into this series, now focusing on the Eastern Highlands, delivering airstrips where even virtual bush pilots might sweat a little:
- AYGM – Gema
- AYBY – Wuyabo
- AYUX – Usarumpia
- AYDY – Sindeni
- AYAD – Ande
- AYKX – Asinuwa
- AYOI – Boikoa
Each strip is a handcrafted creation, with custom terrain sculpting to match their real-world counterparts. Expect to wrestle with uphill gradients, narrow clearings, and tricky terrain masking potential windshear or downdrafts.
Wildlife, characters, and a touch of life in the bush
Ken Hall didn’t stop at airstrips. This pack introduces animated wildlife and 10+ original character models, making the airfields feel like small pockets of civilization in an otherwise wild setting. Between the sound of your engine and the chirping of PNG’s endemic birds, there’s little doubt where you are.
Unlike the earlier packs, which debuted for MSFS 2020 and later transitioned, Pack 4 was designed from day one for MSFS 2024. Orbx highlights that the new SDK allowed more refined textures, better vegetation placement, and sharper rock faces. It should be a subtle but meaningful evolution in how these bush strips look and feel.
PNG Highland Bush Strips Pack 4 is out now for around $12 USD, exclusively through OrbxDirect.
