Helicopter simmers have a new reason to pull their collective. Taog’s Hangar has launched its OH-6A Cayuse and Hughes 500C dual-package for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, now available exclusively on the MSFS Marketplace for $32.99.
This release brings together two important members of the Hughes light helicopter family: the military-born OH-6A “Loach”, famous for its role in Vietnam, and its civilian sibling, the Hughes 500C, a versatile workhorse seen in law enforcement, EMS, utility, and private operations around the world.
Two helicopters in one package
Taog’s Hangar is giving us two distinct aircraft built on the same airframe:
- OH-6A Cayuse: A light observation helicopter built to meet the U.S. Army’s LOH (Light Observation Helicopter) requirements. Its compact size, distinctive teardrop fuselage, and agility made it a staple for reconnaissance and “hunter-killer” operations during the Vietnam War.
- Hughes 500C: The civilian evolution of the OH-6A, adapted for a broad range of roles from utility flights to VIP transport.
Each aircraft comes with multiple configurations, including high skids, low skids, and floats, offering pilots flexibility for different mission profiles.
Taog’s Hangar has packed the dual-package with a feature list that should satisfy both casual pilots and those looking for realism:
🔹 40+ liveries, spanning real-world operators and fictional designs.
🔹 Full MSFS 2024 preflight inspection support, letting users carry out detailed walkarounds before takeoff.
🔹 Meticulously tuned flight dynamics, shaped with feedback from real-world pilots to reflect the helicopters’ nimble, responsive handling.
🔹 4K PBR textures and highly detailed cockpit environments for both military and civilian variants.
🔹 Support for realistic damage simulation, requiring careful operation within powerplant limits to avoid transmission or engine issues.
The package also integrates popular third-party avionics like PMS50’s GTN750 and TDS GTNXi750.

According to the included flight manual, which can be freely downloaded from the developer’s website, the aircraft replicate not just the exterior forms but also operational procedures, cockpit layouts, and key systems, including an automatic re-ignition system that mimics the real thing.
The OH-6A features military-specific equipment, while the 500C focuses on civilian mission adaptability. Both benefit from Taog’s signature modular attachment system, allowing for role-specific outfitting.
The helicopters are also built with real-world performance data in mind. Charts for height/velocity (“dead man’s curve”), power checks, and hover ceilings are included for those who enjoy flying by the book.
The price tag of $32.99 places it squarely in the higher-end range for MSFS helicopters, though the combination of two airframes and multiple configurations makes it a compelling offer for fans of light utility helicopters.
The OH-6A / Hughes 500C package is available exclusively on the MSFS Marketplace, compatible with PC and Xbox versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
