Cowan Simulation has shared a fresh update on its highly anticipated Sikorsky S-76C++ helicopter for Microsoft Flight Simulator, revealing that the aircraft is now in the final stages of development and expected to launch in July.

The developer describes the S-76C++ as one of the most advanced helicopters in the sky and confirms it is being built from the ground up for MSFS, focusing on realism, performance, and interactivity. While initially designed for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, the aircraft will also be fully compatible with MSFS 2024. A native MSFS 2024 version is planned for a future update.

This upcoming release will feature a custom-coded autopilot system, which Cowan Simulation says was developed in-house to provide precise and realistic flight control. A tablet interface will be included for in-sim configuration, and the package will offer multiple cabin options, including both luxury and medical interiors. The developer also promises extensive systems simulation aimed at closely matching the real-world S-76’s functionality.

The new preview images, shared by Cowan Simulation this week, showcase the rotor system in detail, the executive cabin layout, and the advanced avionics suite inside the cockpit. These visuals provide the most comprehensive look yet at the helicopter’s visual and systems fidelity in the sim.

Following the release of the S-76C++, Cowan Simulation plans to issue final updates for all existing MSFS 2020 helicopters and their MSFS 2024-compatible ports. Work on fully native MSFS 2024 versions of the developer’s lineup will begin after that.

Stay tuned for the full feature list and release confirmation in the coming weeks!
