Sim Federation has released a new aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator, adding another regional jet to their expanding catalogue. The Embraer ERJ145 is now available on SimMarket for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, though its arrival comes without much fanfare.

This release marks Sim Federation’s first attempt at bringing the popular Embraer ERJ family to the sim, starting with the largest variant, the ERJ145. Developed in Brazil and introduced to commercial service in the late 1990s, the ERJ145 has become a staple of regional fleets across the globe. It’s a 50-seat, twin-engine jet known for its reliability and efficiency, having been operated by dozens of airlines across more than 25 countries.

The aircraft modeled here is the ERJ145 in its original configuration. According to the SimMarket listing, the virtual version features a highly detailed exterior and interior model with 4K textures, including a fully modelled cabin and compatibility with VR headsets. The aircraft’s real-world specs are also highlighted on the product page: a top cruising speed of 531 mph, a service ceiling of 37,000 feet, and a range just shy of 1,800 miles.

So far, there’s no mention of custom systems, avionics, or flight model fidelity—areas that have drawn mixed feedback on previous Sim Federation releases. The product description focuses almost exclusively on visuals and general aircraft background, without offering details on cockpit functionality, custom sounds, or performance tuning.

For long-time followers of Sim Federation, this approach won’t come as a surprise. Many of the developer’s aircraft—including the Challenger 350 and Phenom 300E—have been released with noticeable shortcomings, such as mid-range visuals and basic system implementations that rely heavily on default MSFS avionics. Community reactions have been mixed, with many poiting to a lack of depth and polish.

This time, from the screenshots provided by Sim Federation, at least there seems to be noticeable polish to the graphics. The aircraft appears clean, well-proportioned, and convincingly integrated with MSFS’s visual engine, and the cockpit screenshots reveal a surprisingly complete flight deck layout. All major systems panels are present, and the textures hold up well at close range. The displays look sharp, and there’s been clear attention paid to lighting, wear, and switch detailing.

The Sim Federation Embraer ERJ145 is available now on SimMarket, priced at around €30. It’s compatible with both MSFS 2020 and 2024. It’s worth noting that FlightFX is also working to bring its own take on this aircraft to MSFS, in what is expected to be a high-fidelity simulation.
