Just Flight has rolled out a major new update to FS Traffic, their AI traffic solution for Microsoft Flight Simulator, marking the first significant patch for the product in almost two years. The update brings FS Traffic to version 1.0.7 and introduces a host of improvements across the board — along with a few hints about what’s next.
Current owners should have received an email notification, but Just Flight advises everyone to head over to their account to re-download the full package. FS Traffic remains part of the developer’s ongoing Easter Sale, which ends next week.
In a brief announcement, Just Flight also confirmed that FS Traffic will be coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Work is actively underway, with more information expected soon.
A closer look at the update
The 1.0.7 update reshapes the user experience around FS Traffic installation and management. Most notably, the separate installers for the core FS Traffic package and the FS Traffic Fleet have been merged into a single unified installer, aiming to streamline the installation process significantly.
To complement this change, a new Backup Tool has been introduced. Users can now easily back up their custom files either through a standalone tool or directly inside the Traffic Control Centre, helping to avoid any data loss during future updates or reinstalls.
The Traffic Control Centre itself has received a substantial overhaul, featuring a redesigned graphical user interface, expanded aircraft entry options, and a newly added hotfix facility that allows for quick updates without a full reinstall. Several other improvements target the core usability of the application, including better airport flight plan searches and bug fixes related to database entries and file handling.
Traffic improvements and bug fixes
The update brings other notable changes under the hood to FS Traffic’s in-sim module as well. For example, arrivals will now always use the default flight plan, and traffic removal actions have been improved to properly halt all arrivals and cruise traffic.
Various fixes address traffic generation issues, airport identification problems (particularly with special helipad ICAOs and Navigraph data conflicts), and long loading times at quieter airports. Several enhancements also target the internal logic of flight regenerations and arrival calculations, with the goal of producing more consistent and reliable AI behavior throughout the simulation.
Aircraft model updates and new liveries
On the visual side, Just Flight has refined its AI fleet. Updates include improvements to cockpit glass visuals, aileron animations on several Airbus models, and nose cone shading on a range of Boeing and Airbus types. AI aircraft sounds have also been made louder, and ATC type and model entries have been corrected to ensure proper communication with the sim’s ATC system.
A long list of new liveries has also been added, covering a wide selection of airlines and aircraft types.
MSFS 2024 version in the works
While this update refreshes FS Traffic for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, work is actively progressing to bring the product to MSFS 2024. Just Flight has not yet set a timeline for release but promised further news in the near future.
For now, simmers can take advantage of the Easter Sale to pick up FS Traffic at a discounted price or update their existing installation with the latest improvements.
