Hot on the heels of the long-awaited Sim Update 1, which hopefully has brought much-needed stability and a wide range of fixes for issues simmers have been experiencing since Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s launch in November, the MSFS team is gearing up for its next release: a content update.
It marks a return to the World Updates, nearly seven months after World Update 18, which focused on Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Now, for the first time, a World Update will highlight the South American continent—a long-requested region that many simmers have been eager to see improved in the sim.
In just a few days, on March 11, World Update 19 will be released, featuring enhancements to Brazil, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. Expect upgraded scenery, new handcrafted airports, and even a free aircraft to explore this part of South America!
Enhanced Cities and Handcrafted Airports
As usual with World Updates, WU19 will introduce several new photogrammetry-enhanced cities (four, at least), providing a more detailed and realistic urban landscape for simmers. While Microsoft has yet to confirm the exact cities, expectations are high for major hubs such as Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, and São Paulo to receive updates.
Additionally, seven handcrafted airports have been meticulously recreated to offer a more authentic experience. These airports will feature detailed terminal buildings, improved ground textures, and custom objects to closely match their real-world counterparts.
75 POIs
In addition to the improved urban landscapes and handcrafted airports, World Update 19 will bring 75 new Points of Interest, covering major landmarks and natural wonders across the region. While the full list of POIs has yet to be disclosed, simmers can expect to see enhancements to key Brazilian landmarks, national parks, and culturally significant sites throughout Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana.
CAP-4 Paulistinha: A Free Local Legend
One of the standout additions in this update is the inclusion of the CAP-4 Paulistinha, a classic Brazilian light aircraft. Originally intended to be the 20th Local Legend release, Microsoft has instead decided to offer the aircraft for free as part of World Update 19, as compensation for earlier release challenges. This vintage high-wing trainer is a significant part of Brazilian aviation history and will be a welcome addition to the simulator’s fleet.
