BlueBird Simulations confirms Boeing 757 release delay into 2025 for MSFS

BlueBird Simulations has officially confirmed that the release of its highly anticipated Boeing 757 for Microsoft Flight Simulator will not take place in 2024. This comes as no surprise for many who have closely followed the project, especially given recent updates hinting at possible delays.

The announcement was made via a video update posted on social media by Sherwin, the lead developer at BlueBird Simulations. In his message to the community, Sherwin expressed his commitment to delivering a high-quality product and acknowledged that setting another release date would be unwise after two previous projections didn’t materialize. “I’m not going to make another one,” he stated. “The plane will be ready when it’s ready.”

BlueBird Simulations was aiming for a late 2024 launch of the 757, with updates from August and September showcasing development milestones such as the EFB and a collaboration with Boris Audio Works for the sound design. Despite these advancements, Sherwin had already expressed concerns about meeting the 2024 deadline in past updates, making today’s news somewhat expected by the community.

In today’s video, Sherwin explained that the team is committed to refining the 757 without rushing the project. The developer’s goal is not just to release the aircraft but to ensure that it meets the high expectations of the flight sim community. “We don’t want to do a cash grab or any of that sort of nonsense with this plane,” he added.

Moving forward, Bluebird plans to continue sharing updates, with the next video focusing on the 757’s systems expected in December. For now, BlueBird remains dedicated to providing regular progress reports while avoiding further speculation on release timelines.

For users of both MSFS 2020 and the upcoming MSFS 2024, Sherwin reiterated once again that the 757 will initially be released for MSFS 2020, with a free update for MSFS 2024 to follow. A specific MSFS 2024 version will be developed later, but BlueBird Simulations plans to ensure compatibility between the 2020 and 2024 versions from launch.

While the delay is undoubtedly a disappointment for some, the overall response from the community is likely to be supportive, recognizing the importance of getting the details right, especially for the studio’s first release.

As always, we’ll continue to track this project closely and bring you all the latest news. Stay tuned!
