Parallel 42 is on a roll this month! After releasing SimFX and A320 Immersion, the team continues to innovate and look for unique new ways to enhance the user experience in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Today, they have a new add-on out, aimed at improving performance, especially for those flying on Xbox!
This new utility is called ‘Taboo‘ and offers a very simple but effective set of capabilities. It essentially enables MSFS simmers to disable specific avionics on aircraft, thus reducing the performance impact of the simulator.
Parallel 42 says that on Xbox, disabling some avionics may mean the difference between being able to fly the aircraft or not (some are notorious for showing black screens when things get a little out of control). On high-end PCs, disabling, say, your copilot’s avionics may add just the FPS you need for a smooth landing at a highly detailed airport.
Taboo is designed to be user-friendly and non-invasive. It does not permanently alter your aircraft. Instead, it features a simple on/off switch, giving you full control without any long-term changes.
Taboo is another ingenious utility from Parallel 42 and is available now for purchase at $7.00 USD. It’s currently available only for PC from the developer’s website, pending approval on the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace for both PC and Xbox.

Highlights
- Non-Destructive Mod: Taboo does not permanently alter aircraft; a simple on/off switch gives you all the necessary control. Think of it like god mode over avionics!
- Reduce Avionics Blackouts (ABO): Designed to help minimize the occurrence of ABOs, aiming for more consistent flight experiences.
- Memory Optimization: Efficiently allows you to reduce sim memory resource usage to maintain smooth console operation.
- Enhanced Performance: Boosts overall performance, contributing to better frame rates & happier sim sessions.
