World Update XV: Nordics & Greenland released for Microsoft Flight Simulator

The skies of Microsoft Flight Simulator are about to offer even more stunning vistas in Europe with the release of a new World Update. This time, the MSFS team brings us World Update XV: Nordics and Greenland, inviting us to explore these countries in exceptional detail with a host of new features and improvements.

Developed in collaboration with several esteemed partners, including Bing Maps, Vexcel, Maxar, Gaya Simulations, Orbx, and Kjetil Garpestad, World Update XV offers a comprehensive upgrade to the simulator’s representation of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and the self-governing territories of the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

Here are the key features of World Update XV:

  • 90 Hand-Crafted Points of Interest (POIs): Pilots can marvel at landmarks such as Denmark’s Farø Bridges and Ribe Cathedral, Finland’s Bengtskär Lighthouse, Greenland’s Summit Station, Iceland’s Laugardalsvöllur Stadium, Norway’s Andenes Lighthouse, and Sweden’s Arctic Space Centre.
  • 10 photogrammetry Cities: The update brings enhanced detail to cities like Aarhus, Copenhagen, Frederikssund, Odense, Roskilde, Gothenburg, Linkoping, Malmö, Visby, and Oslo.
  • 5 Hand-Crafted Airports: The update includes Akureyri Airport (BIAR) in Iceland, Mo i Rana Airport (ENRA) and Leknes Airport (ENLK) in Norway, Kiruna Airport (ESNQ) in Sweden, and Ivalo Airport (EFIV) in Finland, each offering unique and challenging flying experiences.
  • High-Resolution Geographic Updates: Significant enhancements have been made to the digital elevation models in Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, providing a more realistic terrain.
  • Updated Aerial Imagery: The entire Nordic region has been updated with fresh aerial imagery and satellite data.
