Parallel 42 releases Widows Peak, their first native scenery for MSFS 2024

Parallel 42 is back with its first native scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and, of course, it’s another backcountry adventure! Widows Peak is a rugged and remote off-field landing spot tucked away in Lincoln County, Wyoming, ready to test your skills. Located 25 miles north of Circle B Ranch, this high-risk airstrip offers a demanding approach near Mt. Wagner, where simmers must contend with shifting winds and hazardous terrain.
Widows Peak is described by //42 as a treacherous strip reminiscent of their Sharktooth Ridge, requiring precise control and quick decision-making. With no maintained runways and steep cliffs on approach, pilots will need to hug the terrain, utilize wind conditions, and apply expert rudder control to ensure a safe landing. The airstrip features two unmaintained grass runways and a single nearby helipad, making it ideal for STOL aircraft and helicopters.
Beyond its aviation challenge, Widows Peak promises a fully immersive wilderness retreat. A hiking path leads to a secluded helipad and the Pine Knoll Cabin, a walkable structure exclusive to MSFS 2024’s avatar mode. Nearby fishing pools, natural springs, and a valley rich with rivers and sandbars provide an inviting setting for exploration, camping, and bush flying adventures. The area also supports MSFS 2024’s dynamic fauna.
Key Features of Widows Peak:
- Fully native to MSFS 2024 with high-fidelity models and enhanced textures.
- Dynamic airstrip visitors powered by native simulator features.
- Custom sounds and 3D library assets designed specifically for MSFS 2024.
- Terrain enhanced with Parallel 42’s “TrailBlazer” tech for realistic elevation details.
- Hidden micro-scenes, including a riverside retreat and an isolated hiking couple.
- Collidable objects on and near the runway, increasing the realism and challenge.
- A hidden bear somewhere in the environment—if you can find it.
Pricing and Special Offer for MSFS 2020 Owners
Widows Peak is available now for $10 USD via the developer’s own store. However, existing owners of Widows Peak for MSFS 2020 can upgrade for free using the code 24WIDOWS at checkout. This offer is valid for six months, from February 19, 2025, to August 19, 2025.
Widows Peak is also available on Contrail, with the same free upgrade for owners of the MSFS 2020 version using code WIDOWS-UP24 at checkout.
Parallel 42 classifies Widows Peak as a Scene rather than a full-fledged airport scenery. Scenes are designed with a smaller footprint, offering pilots unique locations for exploration and adventure rather than large, detailed airfields. The strip is also well-suited for use with Parallel 42’s Campout Utility and the Juice Goose UTV.
