SwissMilSim previews the Vampire DH-100 for MSFS

We’ve known for a while about SwissMilSim’s efforts to bring historic Swiss airplanes to Microsoft Flight Simulator. After the Morane D-3801, the team revealed earlier this year that they were also looking to create the DH-100 Vampire and DH-112 Venom. Now that SwissMilSim has finished the development of the Venom for P3D, they are now accelerating the development of the Vampire for MSFS. Here are the first images of this aircraft in MSFS!

SwissMilSim shared with us that initial testing of the Vampire DH-100 in MSFS showed great promise. The flight model appears to be working quite well and is getting numerous precision adjustments in order to be as faithful as possible to the real-world aircraft. The team has also been testing the functionality of the different gauges, levers, and switches in the cockpit.

In terms of modeling, the Vampire is looking quite advanced already in MSFS. The cockpit in particular seems to be a marked improvement over the Morane’s, which was one of the few criticisms we had about that aircraft. This time, from the preview images shared by SwissMilSim, it seems we’re getting a much-improved instrument panel with entirely 3D gauges.

As a nice bonus, SwissMilSim is also modeling the Payerne Air Force Base (LSMP), featured in some of the images you can see here, and planning to release it as a freeware scenery down the line.

It’s undeniable that the Vampire looks beautiful flying in Switzerland, with the Alps as a stunning background to this historic airframe for Swiss military history. Even though it’s an original British fighter, developed by de Havilland, it ended up being licensed for production in Switzerland as this country explored the modernization of its Air Force after World War II. With a total of 221 airplanes built for service, the Vampire played a vital role in the Swiss Air Force until the late 1980s.

Now that SwissMilSim is entirely focused on bringing this beautiful aircraft to Microsoft Flight Simulator, we hope to soon be able to bring you new details and images of the DH-100 Vampire for MSFS!
