Pyreegue launches an unexpected project that upgrades road traffic in MSFS

Pyreegue Dev Co. surprised the community today with a release that isn’t an airport but still shows the studio’s familiar attention to detail. Motorworks: Traffic & Transport (Europe) is a new regional vehicle library that replaces default MSFS cars and traffic in Europe.

According to the developer, the library swaps generic simulator vehicles with more than 40 custom European models. These replacements apply globally for parked cars and within the simulator’s European LivingWorld regions for traffic vehicles. All models use 4K textures by default, with an optional 2K variant offered through the Contrail app for anyone looking to control VRAM use.

Pyreegue says the models are built to accurate scale and geometry and follow correct LOD behaviour. The team highlights that the package avoids artificially inflated bounding boxes, which is intended to prevent high-detail variants from being drawn at long distances. This strategy is presented as a performance benefit, particularly around dense airport environments.

Each vehicle features region-appropriate European licence plates. The package includes nine LOD stages for mass-instanced traffic models and six for higher-quality scenery vehicles, with Pyreegue stating that its models use an average of 40% fewer vertices than the LOD limits permit.

Motorworks also replaces auto-generated parking-lot vehicles with the new custom set. Some decorative cargo items are included as well, although these do not offer functional interactions.

The product page on Contrail includes comparison images showing differences between default MSFS assets and Pyreegue’s replacements. Wherever airports rely on the simulator’s built-in library, the new models take over automatically.
