Captain Sim releases a UFO flying saucer for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Captain Sim is venturing even further into space with its latest release for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Following the launch of the Space Shuttle earlier this year, the developer is now imagining how a spacecraft from another world might look and behave inside the simulator. The result is the UFO Flying Saucer for MSFS 2024, featuring a classic disc-shaped design and a range of playful features.

According to Captain Sim, the aircraft is a detailed digital representation of a classic flying saucer with high-resolution textures, exterior lighting, and three liveries. The package includes several unusual functions such as an abduction beam, invisibility mode, spin mode, alien vision, orb drop, and flares.

A holographic control panel is featured in the interior view of the aircraft, although it doesn’t seem like there’s an actual “cockpit” with instruments. Captain Sim says the UFO uses a custom flight model with hover and forward-flight modes.

This is surely one of the most unconventional releases seen in MSFS 2024 so far. As with any novelty release, this one will most likely appeal to simmers who enjoy experimenting or creating cinematic moments in MSFS. Those looking for traditional aircraft systems or real-world operations will want to keep that context in mind, of course.
