New Sim Update 1 Beta build released for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Following up on the recent launch of the Sim Update 1 Beta for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, a new version of the beta has just been released, bringing a wide array of further fixes and enhancements. Participants in the public beta can now access this updated build, which targets several key areas of improvement across aircraft, avionics, performance, backward compatibility, and more.

The update mainly focuses on general bug fixes, addressing a wide range of issues across the entire platform. Sim Update 1 is anticipated to be a significant effort to tackle the numerous problems that plagued MSFS 2024 since its challenging launch, so the community is understandably looking forward to a noticeable improvement in the overall stability and quality of the product. Early indicators since the release of the first beta are fortunately very encouraging!

This new beta touches a little bit in everything, with an extensive changelog that includes dozens of items. For backward compatibility, for example, the update includes important corrections to ensure that aircraft ported from Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 display correctly in the 2024 version.

Aircraft-specific improvements are also a significant aspect of this update, with the Boeing 737 MAX 8 receiving attention to key systems such as derate logic and cabin pressurization. Issues related to CDU displays and takeoff performance have been addressed, along with enhanced logic for landing altitude indicators.

The Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX and various aircraft with glass cockpit systems, including Garmin-equipped models, benefit from corrections to autopilot functionality, navigation accuracy, overexposure of display screens, and more.

The update introduces further refinements to the G1000 NXi, G3000/G5000, G3X Touch, and other avionics suites. These fixes enhance flight plan management, waypoint transitions, and altitude capture mode, improving overall in-flight navigation performance.

The update also addresses VR performance, with specific fixes for cockpit occlusion and yoke interactions, while improving peripheral controls and input settings on Xbox and PC.

Developers working within the Sim Update 1 Beta will benefit from several improvements to the SDK and development tools. For example, scenery editing tools now properly support runway elements and correct placement issues related to building exclusion zones and terraforming.

Overall, this update shows the continued efforts by the development team to enhance the stability and functionality of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. As always, beta participants are encouraged to provide feedback as these refinements are finalized for future updates.
