MSFS 2024 to Offer Individual Premium Deluxe Aircraft Purchases

Here’s an interesting and potentially very useful bit of information about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 that probably not many in the community noticed. As we reported last week in our comprehensive overview of all things MSFS 2024, the MSFS team has decided that aircraft featured in the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe Editions of MSFS 2024 will be available for individual purchase for those who own one of the standard or lower-tier editions. This was corroborated again this week during the live developer Q&A.

When asked if users could buy premium deluxe planes separately in MSFS 2024, Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, responded emphatically: “Yes, I heard that loud and clear last time and we did that.” This statement confirms that the decision was a direct result of community input.

This change marks a departure from the model used in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, where Premium aircraft were only available as part of higher-tier editions of the simulator.

This means that if you buy the Standard Edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and, for example, would like to have the C-17, the Saab 340, or the Boeing Dreamlifter, you’ll be able to buy one or several of those planes featured in the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions without having to purchase the entire package.

Naturally, with $30 separating each edition, this option will probably only make sense if you’d like to buy one or two aircraft, depending on their individual price… and this is an important detail that is yet to be revealed. How much should any of these aircraft cost?

The treasure trove of information about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 may have been widely unpacked already, but there are still plenty of details to learn. Expect to hear more in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is now available for pre-order on both the Microsoft/Xbox and Steam stores. The Limited Collector’s Edition is available only from Aerosoft.
