FSimStudios and Texan Simulations release Houston Hobby Airport for MSFS

FSimStudios and Texan Simulations have announced the release of the iconic William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This joint effort from the two development teams brings Houston’s second busiest airport to MSFS, just in time for simmers to explore ahead of this year’s FlightSimExpo, which is set to kick off very close to Hobby Airport on June 23rd.

Houston Hobby, as it’s affectionately known, is the oldest commercial airport in Houston, serving as the city’s primary aviation hub until the inauguration of Houston Intercontinental Airport in 1969. Today, it remains a vital base for Southwest Airlines, offering both domestic and international flights.

The developers have gone the extra mile to render an accurate depiction of Houston Hobby as it stands in 2023, using high-resolution orthographic imagery and over 50 handcrafted PBR buildings. This project includes the complete removal of runway 17, mirroring the current construction plans in the physical world.

One of the highlights of this release is the attention given to the interiors of all the concourses within the terminal. These detailed interiors can be toggled on and off according to player preference. The Terminal Building itself has been accurately modeled, creating a striking and instantly recognizable visual landmark.

Notably, the Hobby Airport DoubleTree Hilton, the venue for the first day of this year’s FSExpo, has been included in this package. This provides a unique opportunity for virtual attendees to experience the event’s location as realistically as possible!

Houston Hobby Airport for MSFS is available now for just under $20.00 USD.
