Experience Soviet-era military aviation with Bear Studios’ new MiG-15bis for MSFS

It’s time to test out a new aircraft from the Soviet era for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Bear Studios has recently released the iconic Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The MiG-15 was a Soviet jet fighter developed that rose to prominence during the Korean War, where it outclassed all straight-winged enemy fighters in most applications.

The MiG-15 was one of the first successful swept-wing jet fighters, and it is often compared to the North American F-86 Sabre as one of the best fighter planes of its era. For MSFS, Bear Studios has released the improved version, the MiG-15bis, which features an improved engine, the Klimov VK-1. The engine provides a huge improvement in thrust-to-weight ratio, increasing the acceleration by around 10% and improving the climb rate, reaching up to 50 m/s at low altitude with full fuel tanks.

The MiG-15bis is better equipped to perform vertical loops and other similar maneuvers due to the improved engine. However, the Klimov VK-1 has a higher fuel combustion rate, and the internal fuel tank capacity has been reduced, which affects the aircraft’s range and endurance.

Bear Studios is now inviting MSFS simmers to experience this piece of Soviet military history, with a beautiful native model, animations, high-resolution textures, icing effects, and more.

Bear Studios says the aircraft’s full interactive avionics and real 3D gauge system allow for in-depth aircraft system and functional simulation. The cockpit appears to be very well rendered, with very good looking visuals! As for the flight dynamics, they are based on data from the actual Russian MiG-15Bis flight manual and the USAF Tech Report on MiG-15Bis.

Bear Studios’ release of the MiG-15bis for Microsoft Flight Simulator promises to let simmers experience this Soviet legend in the virtual world with high-quality visuals and a fairly in-depth simulation of the airplane’s systems. The MiG-12bis is available now through SimMarket and Just Flight, priced at around €25.00.
