MSFS Premium and Deluxe aircraft will no longer be encrypted after SU 10

The latest weekly development update by the Microsoft Flight Simulator team brings us the usual news about new additions to the Marketplace, along with updated details about the development roadmap that is to be expected for the coming weeks and months.

However, this time we got a particularly nice tidbit that will be welcomed by both simmers and developers: with Sim Update 10, for Premium & Deluxe aircraft, the config files (.cfg) will no longer be encrypted and developers will finally be able to make significant modifications to these aircraft!

Premium and Deluxe airplanes have famously been protected behind encrypted files, which have made any customization efforts mostly unfruitful. This upcoming change in Sim Update 10 will pave the way for exciting mods to airplanes such as the Cessna 172 with steam gauges, the Boeing 787, the Citation Longitude, or the Cirrus SR22, among others.

Sim Update 10 is currently scheduled to arrive on August 23, along with a new Local Legend and Famous Flyer. The beta testing period for SU10 should begin at any moment!
