(Update: releasing November 9th!) Flightbeam Studios’ NZAA Auckland nears release as it enters a final beta stage

Update, November 6th – Flightbeam Studios has finally confirmed today the release date for this highly anticipated new airport. NZAA will launch very soon, on November 9th at 12pm PST – 8pm UTC with a price of $19.99 USD. The product page is now live with a bunch of details and many new images!

Flightbeam Studios has a gem on its hand with the upcoming Auckland Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator. NZAA is the most ambitious project yet from the developers, and its launch in P3D was a huge success for the team. This kiwi airport will soon be coming to MSFS, as it is now entering a small beta program to polish some final rough edges.

On a short update, the developer opened up applications for the beta program for those interested in taking part, while also detailing some of the special features that will be available with the latest MSFS technologies, namely:

  • Completely custom approach lighting system. Appears only at night.
  • Custom taxiway lights, with each one modeled with detail.
  • Highly detailed, hand painted PBR textures for every single object/building.
  • 3d Characters in various places
  • and more!

Together with this update we also got a couple of new images of the scenery, which join the impressive ones we saw last month. It’s looking to be a truly remarkable rendition of New Zealand’s largest and busiest airport, and will probably raise the bar of what is possible to create in MSFS in terms of airport realism and immersion.

Once it releases, NZAA Auckland Airport should go along perfectly with the also impressive Auckland City Landmarks pack that was recently released by Orbx. But we may still have to wait a few weeks to finally see this new product from Flightbeam Studios, so stay tuned for further updates!
