TropicalSim releases Porto Airport for MSFS

Portugal’s second-largest airport has been upgraded in Microsoft Flight Simulator, courtesy of TropicalSim. Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, or simply just Porto Airport (LPPR), serves the second most important city in Portugal and the entire northern region of the country, with flights that cover most of Europe and some beyond destinations as well.

Porto Airport plays an important role in Portugal’s growing tourism sector and has seen a significant increase in traffic and passengers over the recent years. It reached a peak of more than 13 million passengers in 2019, but both the airport and traffic are expected to grow in the future.

Porto Airport is a hub for TAP Air Portugal and also a focus city for Ryanair, Easyjet and Transavia. Flights to European capitals such as Madrid and Paris are quite popular, as is the aerial bridge with Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal.

TropicalSim recreated this modern airport for MSFS, with its glass terminal and interconnecting services accurately represented in the sim. The developers looked to deliver a fairly realistic virtual version of the airport, including the new Everjets and DHL hangars, and an updated layout that considers the latest construction works on the site.

Porto Airport (LPPR) is now available from Simmarket for around 20€. MK-STUDIOS is also working to bring this airport to MSFS soon, so let’s see how they will compare!
