Hotfix 1.14.6.0 released for MSFS, brings performance fixes and optimizations

The Microsoft Flight Simulator team released today a hotfix for MSFS, v1.14.6.0, which hopes to fix some serious performance issues many simmers have been experiencing lately.

This quick update was announced 10 days ago when the team recognized the performance issues that were being reported since World Update 3. Many reports indicated a severe performance drop in many circumstances. Some users were experiencing that close to large airports, others in seemingly any place.

The patch released today should fix these issues for most people, if not for everyone. Early reports show much improved FPS all across the simulator, which bodes well for the efficiency of this update.

Patch notes are just two:

  • Performance optimizations when flying close to large airports such as Dallas-Ft Worth (KDFW)
  • Performance optimizations of server requests when in the menus and during flight

To get the update, just launch Flight Simulator and you should get a notice to install the patch. This is a small one, with just a little over 100mb, so it should be quick.
